Post Image Links, Value?
Hi,

I am used to text links etc - I have found some sites I want to advertise on that take image ads - basically right hand side of blogs - the theme is very close to my own site - so its worthwhile trying for the traffic benefit.

My question is there any SEO value to a image link? Assuming the site is reputable and strong on Google?

Thanks

Image link has been very valuable in terms of page rank and as there is no text.good spider will look for the image's alt attribute.it is not as valuable as anchor text.but still valuable.

yes images links are very important and effective to get good traffic, but your image should be very attractive that people should motivate to click on your image and it will redirect on your website.

Image links are valuable but it depends mostly on how you are using it. The image should simple and load fast even in minimal internet speed.

That's an interesting report, fishfinger. What is commonly called "image hotlinking" is really a src= attribute, and not a true link - that is, it's not an anchor element. I've often wondered how Google looks at cross-domain image sourcing. Last year, that was one trick that seemed to help a new domain avoid a long stay in the "sandbox".

n the style of SEOmoz' Search Engine Ranking Factors, this page includes the opinions of 17 well respected, international SEO and Link Building professionals on nearly 40 factors that possibly influence the value of a link. My opinion about each factor has been included into every score as well. Although not every possible influencing factor, nor every possible opinion has been included, this page covers the majority of the factors and is pretty accurate. At least, in my opinion.

Use keywords in image attributes which can help to increase the traffic.

The following questions have to do with when you have an image and text link on a page right next to each other, like when you link a compelling graphic image to a category page and then list a text link underneath it to pass text link value to the linked-to page.

1) If the image link displays before the text link pointing to a page, would first link priority use the alt text and not even apply the anchor text phrase to the linked page?

2) Would it be best to link the image and text phrase together pointing to the product page to decrease the link count on the page, thus allowing for more page rank and page authority to pass to other pages that are being linked to on the page? And would this also pass anchor text value to the link-to page since the link would include an image and text?

It's not really useless as there is page rank passed through most links on the web to some degree, it's just harder to classify what the image means in a keyword sense. Also, if this is a banner link, there's likely to be a redirect script or discounted link value because you're paying for the placement anyways.
